Terms of Service

These terms apply to Aedict and its companion apps, such as Aedict Reader Popup (together, "the app"), published on Google Play by Martin Vysný, Finland. Contact: support@aedict.eu.

Using the App

You may install the app and use it on your own devices for your personal use. The app and its source code remain the author's property.

Dictionary Data

The dictionaries and other data the app downloads are the work of their authors, credited in the app's About screen, and are used under their own licences: for example JMdict and Kanjidic2 under the licence of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, and KanjiVG and the Tatoeba sentences under Creative Commons licences. Those licences, not these terms, govern the data.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Paid apps such as Aedict Reader Popup, and in-app purchases such as Aedict Ultimate, are bought and paid for through Google Play, under Google Play's terms. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in the Google Play app, under Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are requested through Google Play; if Google can't resolve your case, write to support@aedict.eu.

Right of Withdrawal (EU, EEA and UK)

Google Play sells each purchase either as digital content or as a service. Digital content is available as soon as the purchase completes; when you buy it, you agree to that and acknowledge that you therefore lose the 14-day right of withdrawal. A service may be withdrawn from within 14 days of purchase, for a refund through Google Play. Either way, your rights if the content is faulty or not as described are not affected.

Aedict Online

Synchronization through Aedict Online is optional. Keep your password to yourself. An account used to abuse the service may be deleted. You can have your account and its data deleted at any time; see the Privacy Policy.

No Warranty

The app is provided as it is. The dictionaries are compiled largely by volunteers and may contain mistakes; don't rely on them where a mistake would be costly. To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for indirect damage or for lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, nor your mandatory rights as a consumer.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version is always on this page, with its date.

Applicable Law

Finnish law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the law of your country of residence gives you.
